Schibsted Splits into Two Companies

On March 22, 2024, Schibsted and the Tinius Trust signed an agreement for the sale of Schibsted News Media. This agreement marks a significant restructuring of Schibsted, with the company being divided as of June 7, 2024.

Schibsted Media & Schibsted Marketplaces

Schibsted Media is now a 100% foundation-owned company. It includes brands such as Aftonbladet, Svenska Dagbladet, Omni, tv.nu, Klart, VG, Aftenposten, Storbyavisene, Podme, E24, Fri Flyt, and Shifter. Schibsted Media also retains its ownership stakes in TT Nyhetsbyrån, Polaris, NTB, and Lokalavisene.

Schibsted Marketplaces continues as a publicly traded company and comprises Nordic marketplace brands such as Blocket, FINN, Tori, Oikotie, DBA, and Bilbasen, as well as growth and distribution companies.

What This Means for Our Advertisers

Schibsted Marketing Services (SMS) will now be part of Schibsted Media, and the current portfolio of advertising products will remain unchanged until the end of 2024.

Schibsted Media and Schibsted Marketplaces are working closely to ensure a smooth transition throughout the year. Advertisers will be continuously informed of any changes that may affect them. The goal is for this restructuring to be as seamless as possible for all Schibsted customers – both within Media and Marketplaces.
